Jackson family arranges new autopsy
The family of Michael Jackson arranged a second autopsy of the tragic pop icon Saturday as associates told of mounting anger over "unanswered questions" surrounding the superstar's death. Jackson's family members were huddled at their compound in Los Angeles, where they have gathered since the most famous member of their clan died suddenly on Thursday at age 50 after suffering an apparent cardiac arrest.
The Los Angeles Coroner's office said Friday a preliminary autopsy on Jackson was inconclusive and a final cause of death would not be known until exhaustive toxicology tests are completed in "six to eight weeks." Jackson's body was released to his family late Friday and kept at an undisclosed location before undergoing a second autopsy, officials and local media reports said.
Late Saturday the Los Angeles Times reported the autopsy had been completed but there was no word on the findings. The new examination came as the first signs of disquiet emerged from the Jackson camp. "We don't like what's going on," family patriarch Joe Jackson told People magazine. The Jacksons later issued a statement to fans describing the death as "one of the darkest moments of our lives."
Veteran US politician and activist Reverend Jesse Jackson -- who is not related to the family -- told ABC television's Good Morning America he had spent Friday counselling the family. And he revealed that family members were angered by lingering questions surrounding Jackson's death, and were focusing their attention on the role of the singer's doctor identified as Conrad Murray.
The doctor is reported to have injected Jackson with the painkiller Demerol shortly before his death. Reports said Los Angeles police were due to interview Murray on Saturday in the presence of a lawyer but detectives have said they do not view the physician as a criminal suspect. A lawyer representing Murray, Matt Alford, said he had no knowledge of any treatments given to Jackson by the physician. "It's a human tragedy and he's (Murray's) upset about the death of Mr Jackson," Alford told CNN. "He's not a suspect in the death of Mr Jackson. Rather he is assisting the investigation"
However Jesse Jackson said the family had questions of their own. "They (the family) are suspicious of this doctor and they have real reason to be because any other doctor would say 'Here's what happened in the last hour of his life and I was there. I gave him some medicine.'
"He owes it to the family and to the public to say, 'These were the last hours of Michael's life and here's what happened.' That's a reasonable expectation."
Friends and associates of Jackson took to the airwaves to voice anger over the role of advisers and physicians that surrounded the star. New age guru and Jackson confidante Deepak Chopra -- a qualified cardiologist -- told CNN bluntly: "I think drugs killed him."
Anger was also beginning to be seen amongst fans who have gathered around the globe in their thousands to pay tribute to Jackson in what have been largely joyous celebrations of his life. On the Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles, fans queued again on Saturday for the right to file past Jackson's star set in the sidewalk. Deborah Canton, 46, sobbed inconsolably as she slammed the "evil people" who she accused of driving Jackson to his death. "The guy would never hurt a fly but all of these evil people would do everything to destroy him just to get his money," she said. "I don't think he wanted to live anymore."
In New York large crowds formed outside the legendary Apollo Theater in Harlem, where Jackson launched his career in 1969.

Jackson's fear of 'ending up' like Elvis: Lisa Marie
Michael Jackson’s former wife Lisa Marie Presley said on Friday the pop star was a tortured soul who once predicted that he would ‘end up’ like her father, the late rock icon Elvis Presley.
Writing on her MySpace blog, Presley also ripped into reports in the media that her relationship with Jackson was contrived, saying they split because she could not save him from self-destructive behaviour.
‘Our relationship was not a ‘a sham’ as is being reported in the press,’ Presley, 41, wrote in the blog posting, which was verified by her spokesperson.
She called it an ‘unusual relationship’ but added: ‘Nonetheless, I do believe he loved me as much as he could love anyone and I loved him very much.’
Presley, the only daughter of the original ‘King of Rock ‘n’ Roll’ and a performer in her own right, describes having a conversation with Jackson about her father’s August 16, 1977 death. Elvis Presley died at age 42 of a heart attack after years of drug use.
‘At some point he (Jackson) paused, he stared at me very intensely and he stated with an almost calm certainty: ‘I am afraid that I am going to end up like him, the way he did.’’
Presley wrote that she tried to deter Jackson from the idea, but he shook his head and nodded ‘as if he knew what he knew’ and would not be dissuaded.
‘As I sit here overwhelmed with sadness, reflection and confusion at what was my biggest failure to date, watching on the news almost play by play the exact scenario I saw happen on August 16, 1977 happening again right now with Michael (a sight I never wanted to see again), just as he predicted, I am truly, truly gutted,’ she said.
Presley wrote that she and Jackson’s family tried to save him from ‘the inevitable, which is what just happened’ but she became overwhelmed and had to end their relationship.
‘I became very ill and emotionally/ spiritually exhausted in my quest to save him from certain self-destructive behaviour and from the awful vampires and leeches he would always manage to magnetise around him,’ she wrote.

Candlelight vigil to remember Michael Jackson's life and legacy
A candlelight vigil is planned this weekend to remember Michael Jackson's life and legacy at the original home of Motown Records in Detroit.
The vigil at the Hitsville USA building will begin at 8 p.m. EDT Sunday, the 28th June, says The Motown Historical Museum. The historic Detroit building was the launching pad for the late pop superstar's career. People have been visiting Hitsville to pay their respects to Jackson, the late King of Pop who died Thursday in Los Angeles at the age of 50.
Hitsville includes Studio A. It is that very studio where Jackson recorded as a member of The Jackson 5. Four decades ago Motown Records founder Berry Gordy signed The Jackson 5 .

Legendary pop icon Michael Jackson died at the age of 50 on Thursday, June 25th, 2009.
Michael Jackson, 50, one of pop music's biggest stars, was rushed to a Los Angeles-area hospital by paramedics who found him not breathing when they arrived at his home. It was announced later that he had died.
The news of his death at around lunch time was first broke by celebrity website TMZ but news organizations around the USA waited more than two hours before making it official as they were unable to confirm his death.
The Los Angeles Times was the first major news outlet to announce the singer's death on its website after the news was apparently confirmed by a doctor at the UCLA Medical Center, where he was brought by paramedics.
Jackson was pronounced dead at 2:26 p.m. PDT (9:26 p.m. EDT) , June 25th, 2009, after arriving at a Los Angeles hospital in full cardiac arrest. The cause of death was not known and an autopsy would likely take place on Friday.
He was briefly married to Elvis Presley progeny Lisa Marie Presley -- a largely symbolic union of pop dynasties. Jackson had 13 number one hits during his solo career, won 13 Grammy Awards, and his lifetime record sales tally was believed to be about 750 million. He has left three children: Michael Joseph Jackson, Jr., Paris Michael Katherine Jackson and Prince "Blanket" Michael Jackson II. He is also survived by his siblings and his parents, Joe and Katherine Jackson.
Jackson was getting ready to start a series of concerts in London that would have lasted from July 8th until March 6th, 2010.
Jackson's music appeared on many movie soundtracks. He played Scarecrow in the 1978 movie The Wiz, appeared as Captain EO in the Disney resort attraction, had a small role in Men in Black II and starred in the extended videos for "Thriller," "Bad" and "Moonwalker."

Cristiano Ronaldo Avoids Prosecution
Cristiano Ronaldo, on the verge of a world record transfer to Real Madrid, has received more good news after the Portugal winger was told he will not face any charges after writing off his Ferrari sports car in a crash.
The Manchester United star, who should finally complete his long-desired move to Real for 80 million pounds later this month, demolished the front of his Ferrari when it hit a roadside barrier under a tunnel near Manchester Airport in January.
Ronaldo, FIFA's World Player of the Year, escaped uninjured and spoke to police at the scene before making his way to Manchester United's training ground.
After investigating the incident and interviewing Ronaldo last month, Manchester police decided not to take action against the 24-year-old, who also provided a written statement following the crash.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said on Tuesday: "No further action will be taken against the driver of a Ferrari 599 GTB, which collided with a wall on the A538 Wilmslow Road on Thursday, January 8.”
"No one was injured and no other vehicles were involved in the incident." said the Police spokesman.
